Two of our most prominent CAStars on campus, Faizan and Ankit (VP and President of StuCo respectively) demonstrated just about every CAS learning outcome (perhaps not number 6!) last week as they advocated for a send off for our ISSEA athletes.
Used to having a send off assembly, many students were discombobulated at the news that this year there would be none. Assemblies on October 7th and November 11th sandwich the tournament, but many felt these platforms were insufficient for celebrating true twiga spirit by pumping up our sportspeople before their imminent departures. Although our fearless leaders put together sound arguments for having an assembly on Tuesday 29th, before not only the athletes left, but also the MUN delegates travelling to the Aman conference, they never received the affirmative they were hoping for. There were substantial reasons for this decision.
So, how did two CAStars embodying IB learner profile traits and CAS learning outcomes combined respond to this challenge? They came up with a solution that satisfied everyone and stirred more twiga spirit than campus has seen for a long time!
The atmosphere in the Twiga Dome on Tuesday lunchtime was electric. With students wearing school colours, music blasting from speakers, videos of our football and volleyball teams projected on the walls, faces painted, grade 7s dancing with grade 11s, grade 6s looking on with pride, our ISSEA athletes got the send off they deserved.
