Whilst most grade 11 students were in zanzibar completing field work for their Geography and Biology Internal Assessments, a small group of CAStars spent a week in the foothills of Meru on a learning exchange at UAACC.
In one week, CAStars met all of the learning outcomes (many times over!) as they worked hard striving to understand from and learn about the community they were staying in. This was a true service learning experience. Most grade 11 students worked on finishing fitting the kitchen of the leaders of tomorrow children’s home. However, there was time for some CAStars to pursue their own creative projects, too. Pihu and Esther took time out of fundi-ing to run a dance class in which they collaborated on choreography with students of UAACC. Ursala attended Hip Hop forums and did some writing of her own, Sumana and others also availed of the opportunity to learn batiking. Juan and Ali shared their MUN expertise alongside upcoming CAStars Ali, Krunali and coaching students in English class.
Watch this space for incoming CAStars Yasmin, Julia and Sarah (currently in grade 10) who filled the centre with some incredible singing and original recordings too!… And let’s not forget Ali Jivraj who organized a donation of 200 solar lamps to the community too. You guys are already kiCASing!
